The owners purchased this beautiful old villa with only a modest addition in mind, but the home quickly revealed its need for a substantial restoration.
Many of the original features had been altered over time, so the first step was to bring these back to life - reinstating the villa's character and celebrating its heritage. With a large block and a vast garden, the design evolved to take in the full site and make the most of the northern orientation. The resulting addition is larger than originally planned, but sits effortlessly within the landscape, framing long garden views and creating a seamless relationship between old and new.
The original villa was carefully restored and reconfigured to house the bedrooms, a formal lounge, a study, and a new stair connecting to the original cellar.
A new pool now acts as a centrepiece, gently separating the heritage home from the contemporary addition.
The existing house links to the new wing, which opens into a children's playroom and a light-filled living, dining and kitchen space. Large doors connect these spaces to a generous terrace overlooking the new pool and tennis court, creating a true indoor-outdoor lifestyle. A wood fire anchors the outdoor living zone, while a hidden gym and bathroom sit discretely behind the terrace.
The project brings together restoration, contemporary living and a deep connection to the garden - a calm, modern family home nestled with the leafy suburbs.
